What makes us different. ..
The Wax
All of our candles are made with Coconut Brew wax—a coconut wax blended with just enough soy and palm to give it more solidity. Why coconut wax?
Coconut wax is the cleanest burning of the waxes. It also burns more slowly yet holds scent well, ensuring your candles both smell great and last longer. In addition, coconut oil is considered the most sustainable source of wax. Most commercial coconuts are grown on small-scale farms—often without pesticides. And every part of the coconut can be used in some way.
Coconut is a natural wax, so it may behave differently than any paraffin candles you’ve had in the past. Without those chemicals to give it that “shiny, plastic look,” natural oils have a few quirks. You may notice bubbles in your wax pool or small “pitting” on top of your hardened candle. These are just signs that you have the real deal—all natural wax in your candles.
You’ll notice we don’t add any color to our coconut wax, either—we love its natural creamy color just the way it is!
The Wicks
Wooden wicks—because who doesn’t love a little crackle?
We use wooden wicks that are sustainably sourced in the U.S. from FSC certified wood. They are clean burning and eco-friendly. So. . .relax and enjoy your own personal little fireplace in a jar.
The Scents
It doesn’t do a lot of good to use all natural waxes and wicks only to contaminate your candle with the fragrance oil. We only use Clean Scents from Candle Science. They have been independently tested and shown free from phthalates, carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins, organ toxins, and acute toxins.
We once ran out of our favorite scent of Patchouli, only to find it was back ordered! We looked and looked for other brands that could guarantee the safety of their fragrance oils to the same extent as Clean Scents but to no avail. So we chose to do without that scent rather than substitute something that compromised our vision for our candles.
We want you to breathe easy and enjoy your favorite fragrance.
Cottage Industry
This Little Light Candle Co. is a small, cottage industry. We hand pour small batches of candles, so we pay attention to detail. We personally test every scent, measuring and recording everything from the candle’s flame height to the depth of the wax pool. We wanted to learn to make candles and wax melts for ourselves, but now we are ready to share them with you. We hope you enjoy them!
